• Cube (Green Portals): The starter form of your character in every level. In this form, your character can only take one hop at a time, three times its height.
• Ship (Magenta Portals): Just like controlling a 2D ship, your character will propel upward quickly and descend gradually when nothing is pressed.
• Ball (Red Portals): Your character can switch gravity at will, as long as it comes into contact with a surface. It is not capable of alternating gravity in midair.
• UFO (Orange Portals): It can make small hops that add up. For example, when you want to go up quickly, your character can jump rapidly. Otherwise, it falls down quite quickly.
• Wave (Blue Portals): Your character moves upward and downward in a zig-zag pattern with a fixed speed.
• Robot (White Portals): Your character can perform jumps of various heights, with the maximum being four times its height.

There are two main modes available for players: Normal and Practice Modes. Normal Mode lets you progress normally through the level, but you have to start from the beginning every time you collide with something you aren’t supposed to. On the other hand, Practice Mode puts a handful of checkpoints throughout the level, so you can begin again at the nearest one when needed. There are also countless different mechanics throughout the levels, such as Gravity Portals or Dual Portals. As you progress, the obstacles will become more difficult to dodge, and different mechanics will be paired together to deliver the most challenging gameplay for you!

Timing Is Everything: Precision Tips and Tricks

• Practice the perfect jump for different obstacle placements: In the standard Cube form, your character can only jump three times its height. It is quite easy to jump past one or two spikes, but things are different when you face three consecutive spikes. In this case, your character needs to jump just before it collides with the spikes, so take your time practicing for that muscle memory!
• Know when to jump and when not to jump: This may seem a bit redundant, but once you get to the seventh level, titled Jumper, this will all make sense. Whenever you see the gap between safe blocks, the right course of action is to jump. However, as you discover later on, your character can get past certain gaps without jumping. Take time to learn the height and distance between the blocks and train your hand-eye coordination to progress more easily!
• Try out the Practice Mode: If you have been stuck at a certain part of the level, it’s time to try out the Practice Mode! As mentioned above, in this mode, the game automatically places checkpoints as you advance through the level. Whenever something bad happens, you can start over at the nearest checkpoint! The only bummer is that you don’t get to listen to the dope music of the level, but you can always return to Normal Mode and strive for level completion!
• Never give up: Geo Dash is quite challenging, and so it takes countless attempts to even reach half of a hard level. But just like any other game with difficult obstacles, you can play it again and again to reinforce your muscle memory. If the game starts to become a bit too annoying, however, it is also a good idea to take a break before making more attempts!
